Registering a Company in the F-gas Portal

About the service

The F-gas Portal is the European Commission’s central electronic system for meeting obligations under Regulation (EU) 2024/573 of the European Parliament and of the Council on fluorinated greenhouse gases.

Among other things, the Portal is used for:

1

handling import and export requirements,

2

managing the HFC quota system and authorisations to use quota,

3

meeting reporting obligations.

For activities subject to the registration requirement, a valid registration in the F-gas Portal constitutes the licence required for import or export.

Register your company before your planned import or export

The registration procedure may require additional documents, declarations or clarifications. How long it takes also depends on the course of the verification carried out by the European Commission.

Don’t leave registration until your goods are already in transit or awaiting customs clearance.

Contact PROZON Climate Protection Foundation. We will review your company’s obligations, prepare the required documents and guide you through the F-gas Portal registration process.

Who may be subject to the registration requirement?

The registration requirement may apply in particular to:

  • producers, importers and exporters of bulk HFCs,
  • producers, importers and exporters of other fluorinated greenhouse gases listed in Annex I, II or III to Regulation (EU) 2024/573,
  • importers and exporters of refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump equipment containing F-gases,
  • importers and exporters of cars and other vehicles fitted with air-conditioning systems containing F-gases,
  • importers and exporters of other products and equipment containing F-gases or dependent on them for their functioning,
  • undertakings managing authorisations to use HFC quota,
  • undertakings reclaiming or destroying F-gases or using them as feedstock,
  • independent auditors verifying undertakings’ reports.

Whether registration is required depends on:

  • the type of gas
  • the product or equipment
  • the direction of the flow of goods
  • the customs procedure applied
  • the nature of the company’s business

Each case should therefore be assessed individually.
