About the training

Do you carry out leak checks on air conditioning equipment? Do you repair heat pumps and maintain truck refrigeration units? Do you perform recovery, installation, servicing or decommissioning of refrigeration equipment? If so, you are required to hold F-gas certification, which confirms your knowledge of the basics of refrigeration. Obtain it by taking advantage of our training offer.

The “Refrigeration Basics” training is intended both for people who are just starting their careers in the refrigeration industry and for those who want to expand their knowledge and skills. Our qualified industry specialists have prepared a dedicated training program during which participants will be able to, among other things:

  • install a split-type air conditioning unit,
  • learn about the structure of a refrigeration circuit,
  • practice refrigerant recovery methods.

The course consists of two main parts: 3 hours of theoretical classes and 1 hour of practical classes, during which you will gain the knowledge necessary to take the exam. The training concludes with an exam conducted before the Technical Inspection Examination Commission, which also allows you to obtain F-gas certification.

Training program

Theoretical training

The training begins with a theoretical part conducted at the PROZON Foundation headquarters in Warsaw. On the first day, each participant will receive all the necessary training materials, including our proprietary handbook “F-gas”. We will also provide meals and beverages, allowing you to fully focus on gaining knowledge and new skills in the refrigeration industry.

01. Day one

  • Introduction: PROZON as a partner of the HVACR industry
  • Basics of thermodynamics in refrigeration
  • Components of refrigeration systems
  • Refrigerants
  • Recovery of refrigerants and the environmental impact of fluorinated refrigerants
  • Workshop: REAL Alternatives Europe – e-learning platform (selected topics)

02. Day two

  • Legal regulations on F-gases in refrigeration
  • Leak checks and documentation in practice
  • Safe installation, operation and maintenance. Installation materials used in refrigeration
  • Automation, fittings and instrumentation of refrigeration systems

Practical training

During the practical training, you will learn and refine your skills – you will have the opportunity to install a split-type air conditioning unit and practice all activities required for the F-gas exam. We will provide you with safety goggles and gloves to ensure your safety and comfort during work.

On the last day of the training, you will take an exam conducted by an independent, certified examination body. Due to applicable regulations and the requirement to maintain impartiality, training participants cannot take the exam at the same institution that previously provided the training.

03. Day three

  • Introduction
  • Structure of the refrigeration circuit
  • Valves, piping and brazing
  • Detachable and threaded connections
  • Installation of a split-type unit – exercises on detachable connections

04. Day four

  • Installation of a split-type unit – exercises on detachable connections (cont.)
  • Inspection and leak testing
  • Vacuum creation
  • Performing a nitrogen pressure test
  • Recovery of refrigerants using various methods

05. Day five

  • Additional consultations
  • Theoretical and practical F-gas exam

Training and certification exam for Category A1 (F-gases and hydrocarbons)

Knowledge of flammability, toxicity, and high pressure forms the foundation of working with flammable refrigerants in refrigeration and air conditioning. New quotas are constantly being introduced that limit the availability of commonly used refrigerants, and the pace of technological change continues to accelerate. To keep up with the market, it is essential to expand your knowledge and skills beyond the basics of theoretical knowledge — this is made possible by participating in our flammable refrigerants training.
