Regulation 2024/573, which entered into force on 11 March 2024, introduces changes to the required qualifications of technical personnel servicing refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump equipment.
The new certificate categories apply not only to F-gases but also to alternative refrigerants: CO2, hydrocarbons, and ammonia.
Due to changes in EU legislation and the lack of adaptation of Polish law, the PROZON Foundation has started implementing training courses and examinations leading to the Category A1 certificate (F-gases + hydrocarbons) in cooperation with the Slovak Association for Training and Certification.

After completing the training, an examination is conducted. A successful result enables you to obtain the international REAL Alternatives certificate – sign up today and expand your career opportunities!
Skills required by employers in the refrigeration industry have long gone beyond basic knowledge. Many facility and company owners require their employees not only to have broad practical skills in alternative refrigerants, but also a document confirming these competencies. Currently, the only such European certificate is REAL Alternatives 4 LIFE.
As the PROZON Foundation, we have been the national leader of the European REAL Alternatives 4 LIFE training project for years. This project is co-financed by the European Union and concerns training in refrigeration based on alternative refrigerants (carbon dioxide and flammable refrigerants). It is co-created not only by PROZON, but also by several other European institutions specializing in refrigeration topics.
The F-gases and hydrocarbons training is a comprehensive program combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills in working with refrigerants.
Participants will learn about the properties of flammable refrigerants as well as ammonia and carbon dioxide, safety principles, and current legal requirements. The program also includes best service practices used in refrigeration, an introduction to technologies based on flammable refrigerants, analysis of differences in system design, and calculation examples.
The practical part of the training focuses on performing key service tasks in refrigeration systems, including refrigerant recovery into a cylinder and controlled venting of R290 into the atmosphere, leak testing, system vacuuming, charging the system, and brazing refrigeration components.
The training is enriched with a visit to an innovative refrigerant separation and reclamation installation.
The second day of the training includes the Category A1 examination, consisting of a theoretical part (test and open questions) and a practical part, and concludes with the issuance of a certificate confirming the acquired qualifications.
A valid F-gas certificate is required to participate in the training.
